MARK GREGORY (GREG) HAMMANN, Ph.D.
An accomplished Leader with successful problem solving and technology integration results.
Dr. Hammann gained experience in Remote Sensing & Geospatial Solutions over land and water, developing and delivering services from a large suite of imaging satellites from low to very high spatial and spectral resolution, from optical and synthetic aperture RADAR (SAR) sensors. At GeoEye (ex-Orbimage) he was the Sr. Director of Product Development and the founding Chief Oceanographer for the Marine Services business unit, growing the Marine Services unit from a start-up to a multi-million-dollar business. Prior to joining Orbimage, Greg was teaching at the University of Baja California, School of Marine Science, and then leading a research team and teaching at the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior de Ensenada (CICESE), both in Mexico.
Greg graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Earth Systems and Geoinformation Sciences at George Mason University, with a specialization in Remote Sensing. He carried out PhD studies in Fisheries Oceanography at the Univ. of California, San Diego, received a MS in biological oceanography from Oregon State University, and a BA from Whittier College, in California. Dr. Hammann has been an invited speaker around the world including a delegate for the United National Conference on Remote Sensing for Africa; he has authored peer-reviewed publications and numerous outreach articles. Greg lives in northern Virginia with his wife and two children.
